Enhance standards by feedback

Enhance standards by feedback

Formative assessment is powerful since it helps the teachers identify the difficulties in the students' understanding of the topic and guides the students future progress. Feedback has a significant role through formative assessment. According to teachers feedback, students question their own learning "how to learn" process and progress.

As mentioned in Chris Kyriacou's book Essential Teaching Skills, "Assessment enables pupils to relate their performance to the expected standard, to use detailed feedback to correct and improve their work, and to appreciate more clearly the requirements of the tasks set."

Another point, formative assessment is a part of effective teaching and learning because it is constructive. Using this type of assessment also helps teachers as well as students. Teachers can develop their students' strong or weak points in the course of written, oral or practical. It also motivates the students because they become aware of their hard work and exertion. As we have learnt and mentioned in detail, motivation is significant for our learners and us as teachers trying to improve our teaching skills. Better teachers must be aware of their students' motivation in each part of learning or assessment. Students feel more comfortable and motivated with the help of formative assessment strategies because they can direct feedback on their work. These strong points create an effective classroom environment for both learners and teachers. With the help of formative assessment methods, we have a record of our students past and present achievements to profile our learners.
